LCSK enhances study choice information with AI and 8vance’s skills taxonomy
LCSK has partnered with 8vance to enhance the guidance for students by utilizing a comprehensive skills taxonomy of 12,000 skills. The AI-powered technology generates accurate job descriptions, helping students make more informed study choices that align with labor market demands.
The National Study Choice Center (LCSK) provides extensive guidance to Dutch students through its website Studiekeuze123.nl. Recently, LCSK launched an innovative project aimed at improving study choice counseling by adding job descriptions and labor market information to its offerings. In collaboration with 8vance, LCSK is now leveraging a comprehensive skills taxonomy that includes 12,000 unique skills, helping students gain a clearer understanding of the skills required for various careers.
The collaboration utilizes 8vance’s advanced technology, powered by artificial intelligence (AI). By implementing AI, LCSK is able to generate precise, up-to-date job profiles, offering students insights into the skills needed for different career paths. This technology also supports students in choosing studies that align more closely with labor market demands.
Skills taxonomy guides students toward more informed choices
A key aspect of this project is the use of the skills taxonomy, which encompasses 12,000 unique skills linked to thousands of different professions. For students, this provides a broader view of the skills they can develop during their studies and how those skills match specific career paths.
“Our goal is to better inform and guide students in their study choices,” explains Ramses van Rijn, director of LCSK. “With 8vance’s AI-powered skills taxonomy, we can not only showcase a wider range of career opportunities but also highlight the specific skills needed to succeed in those fields.”
Making a structural contribution to study choice counseling
LCSK is currently exploring how this skills taxonomy and AI technology can be implemented structurally in their study counseling practices. The aim is to integrate this technology extensively into Studiekeuze123.nl, enabling students to make better-informed decisions based on both their interests and current labor market developments.
Through this innovative approach, LCSK hopes to make a lasting contribution to study choice guidance and better prepare students for their future careers.
